It was chaotic, I loved it, and I’ve been associating with all the wrong kind of people ever since. Thing is, the wrong kind of people are often incredibly talented, and I’ve learned a lot from them over the years.

Thanks to them I’ve been building brands and writing copy for more than a quarter of a century. I’ve worked on agency and client side, on opposite sides of the world across the analogue and digital eras. I’ve helped start-ups get started, and small businesses grow. I’ve worked on some of the world’s biggest brands,
developed campaigns that kept people out of jail, wrote copy that saved lives and built brands that sold for tens of millions of dollars. None of that ended up in my pocket, but hey.
Along the way I became an Australian Marketing Institute Certified Practicing Marketer, I’m Google AdWords qualified and I’ve mentored a few marketers over the years too. In fact there’s hardly an industry I haven’t written for, or been involved with at some point.

Mnazi Bay–Ruvuma Estuary Marine Park
Volunteer Research Assistant
I first got involved in protecting the environment decades ago, with a diving project in Tanzania that resulted in the establishment of the Mnazi Bay–Ruvuma Estuary Marine Park. I’m still proud of that to this day.

More recently I set up this organisation to encourage businesses to move to renewable energy, because it’s
easy to do, and it’s the very least you can do to protect the environment.

I was on the board of this organisation for the first year of its existence, as we found our way in the haze of
the bushfires. In the end it took up too much time, although I’m still a member and help out when I can.
Solar My School
Persistent Agitator
I’ve been working closely with WinZero, the Wingecarribee Council and Solar My School to get solar panels on all the schools down here in the Southern Highlands. The wheels of bureaucracy turn slowly, but we persist nonetheless. UPDATE: We did It!

A few years ago, my wife and I quit our jobs and drove round Australia with our two
daughters. I kept a journal, took about 20,000 photographs, and if you’re looking for
