Hi Jessica
As I was saying…
Many years ago I quit my job, flew to Tanzania and volunteered with an organisation called Frontier. We lived in a remote part of the southern coast, dived every day and our work resulted in the establishment of the Mnazi Bay–Ruvuma Estuary Marine Park. I’m still proud of that to this day.
What I’m not so proud of, however, is when I had a
chance to say “hello” to Jane Goodall, and I chickened out.
I was standing in a queue in Dar es Salaam. Well, a queue is a fairly loose term for what you might see in an African post office, but nonetheless, there she was with her long hair in a ponytail, standing just a few steps ahead.
I was young at the time, so I’ve forgiven myself for not speaking up, but at least I can look back now and enjoy the shared experience, with both of us fighting for our place in that African queue.
Anyway, here I am trying to make up for the transgression of my younger self…
All the very best for now, and, the map below is of the region we protected, just south of Mtwara 🙂
Cheers!
