Seventeen Reasons to Work with Me

Seventeen Reasons to Work with Me

1. I probably won’t charge for all the time I spend helping you.

I’d rather it was great work, than worry about running over time.

2. I’m curious, and good at finding details other folks miss.

I love finding interesting things, and that helps you stand out from the crowd.

3. Sometimes I’m a wee bit funny.

I know this because my wife tells me I’m “hilaaaaarious”.

4. I don’t take myself too seriously.

But I do take the work seriously.

5. I’ve worked in every kind of industry imaginable.

From AI to property, conservation to renewables, FMCG, sustainability, professional services, you name it… go on.. try me.

6. I’ve helped to save lives with my copy.

I’ve raised funds for a variety of charities that literally saved lives.

7. I’ve helped people die with my copy.

I developed campaigns that helped people talk about dying to their loved ones, opening up conversations they’d never have had otherwise.

8. I’ve written a number one best-selling book.

I didn’t really intend to, it just kind of happened as my life was turned upside down when my daughter arrived, and I poured my heart out onto the keyboard.

9. I will never use AI to write copy.

Because it’s never going to be as good as I am, or anyone else who’s been doing this as long as I have. Plus, my clients pay for great work, not fast, crappy, regurgitated work that might get them into trouble from a copyright perspective.

10. I first swore when I was three.

It’s just part of being Glaswegian, but I don’t do it at work, even though it’s a sign of intelligence 😀

11. You will always work directly with me.

Even if there are other specialists helping us out, I’ll be the main point of contact.

12. I’m extremely sceptical.

Another benefit of being from Glasgow. It means I can cut through bullshit, and get straight to the point with your messaging, without jumping on bandwagons just for the sake of it.

13. My mother said I’d never get a proper job.

I think she meant I’d get bored, and she was right! Instead I’ve pursued variety, which might not have been great for my income, but was tremendously rewarding for my soul, and now gives me a depth of experience to draw on to help you.

14. Mr Mair said I just cruise along in second gear…

… but if I ever decide to shift up a gear or two, I’d do extremely well. This was to my mother in a parent teacher meeting, and he had a point, Latin just didn’t interest me ~ but once I found my way to copywriting, I found a few extra gears.

15. I don’t work with a lot of clients.

And I’m pretty careful about who I do work with.

16. I often deliver a wee bit more than you asked for.

Like this list of 17 reasons to work with me.

17. I don’t like meetings we don’t need to have.

I’m busy, you’re busy, let’s get on with it.

18. I’m going to be one of those old guys tapping away at the keys when I’m 87 and nobody will be able to get an appointment because I’ll be asleep half the time but when I’m awake I’ll be turning out the most persuasive copy in the world so you’d better book an appointment with me now before it’s too late 😀
